Mandate
The Barbara Ann Scott Minto Alumni Scholarship Trust (BASMAST) is a fund established by Minto Skating Club members to assist Minto's skaters who wish to continue their post-secondary education.
The fund is named for the Club's most famous alumna, Barbara Ann Scott, 1948 World and Olympic Champion, who contributed a substantial amount to the fund.
BASMAST is an independently run registered charity governed by a Board of Directors who oversee the fund. They consider all applications that come before them and award scholarships to qualified skaters annually. Tax receipts are issued for all donations.

Application
Minto skaters who are continuing their education, enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution, are invited to submit a scholarship application.
Applications open November 1st and close November 30th each year. Please ensure the current year’s application form is used. First year post-secondary students should submit their final high school transcript.
All submissions MUST be received by email at BASMASTinfo@gmail.com before midnight on November 30. Awards are presented in the winter.
Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. Award priority may be given to deserving skaters who are first time recipients or who have held a limited number of BASMAST scholarships.

20th Anniversary Campaign
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Barbara Ann Scott’s generous donation to the Minto Alumni Scholarship Trust, we are aiming to raise $20 000 so that we may continue to offer meaningful awards to Minto skaters pursuing post-secondary education well into the future.
More than ever, students are facing challenges due to the increases in tuition, housing costs and the overall cost of living. We would like to continue to be able to award deserving alumni with scholarships that help offset their post-secondary education costs.
Your support will help today’s generation of Minto skaters pursue their academic dreams, and ensure that there are continuing funds for future generations as well. A tax deductible charitable donation from you and/or your business would help us continue to make a positive impact on the affordability of post-secondary education for future scholarship recipients. Some employers will even match charitable donations! Tax receipts will be provided.
