The Art of Figure Skating

Club Information

The Minto Skating Club is one of Canada's oldest and largest figure skating clubs. It was founded in 1904 by Lord Minto. The club was home to Olympic Gold Medallist Barbara Ann Scott.

The club is currently located at 2571 Lancaster Road in the Minto Skating Centre.

The club runs a full program of figure skating instruction from the CanSkate learn to skate program to coaching of members of the Canadian National Team.

The Executive Directory of Skating is Don Jackson who was the 1962 World Champion and 1960 Olympic Bronze Medallist. Don was also the first skater to land a triple lutz, a feat that was not duplicated for 12 years. Don also actively coaches in the club and assists in running the CanSkate program.

The club is run by a President and Board of Directors. The Board meets once a month. The club holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year at the end of May. Elections for board members take place at the AGM. Some board positions run 2 years and others for one year.

At the end of each year, the club hosts an awards banquet where club members of all ages are awarded various awards and trophies.
